Mandate Order Download Guide: Steam, Epic and Size

DownloadUpdated Aug 12, 2026·5 min read

Quick Answer: You download Mandate Order through Steam after purchasing it ($19.99, launch offer $16.99). Launch coverage also reports an Epic Games Store release (link TBC). The install needs 20 GB of storage, DirectX 12 and a broadband connection. There is no free full version and no official torrent.

This guide walks through the legitimate Mandate Order download options, the exact system requirements to check before you buy, and the troubleshooting steps for the two most common install-and-launch problems reported on day one.

Official Download Channels

There are exactly two legitimate ways to get the game:

  1. Steam (primary, verified)store.steampowered.com/app/1733690. Buy the game, and Steam downloads and installs it like any other title. All patches, achievements, cloud saves and Family Sharing run through Steam.
  2. Epic Games Store (reported) — Chinese launch coverage (Sohu, 3DM, TapTap) consistently reports a same-day Epic release. We have not yet verified a direct Epic store link, so treat the Epic option as reported but TBC. Content parity between stores is the norm for such releases.

Any other site offering a "Mandate Order download" is unofficial. Repack and torrent sites are covered, with their risks, on the free download and torrent pages.

Before You Download: Requirements Checklist

Pulled from the official Steam listing:

| Requirement | Minimum | Recommended | | --- | --- | --- | | OS | Windows 10 | Windows 10 | | CPU | i7-9700 / Ryzen 5 3600 | i7-12700K / Ryzen 7 5800X | | RAM | 16 GB | 16 GB | | GPU | RTX 2060 (6G) / RX 5600 XT / Arc A750 | RTX 3070 (8G) / RX 6800 (16G) | | DirectX | 12 | 12 | | Storage | 20 GB | 20 GB | | Network | Broadband | Broadband |

Notes that matter in practice: there is no macOS or Linux build (one community thread reports the English localization failing to load under Linux); 16 GB RAM is a hard floor for the thousand-unit battles; and the GPU requirement is genuinely higher than typical city-builders. Steam Deck compatibility is "Unknown" pending Valve's review (TBC).

Step-by-Step: Downloading on Steam

  1. Open the Steam store page and purchase the game (introductory offer $16.99 until Aug 25, 2026).
  2. The game lands in your Library. Click Install, pick a drive with at least 20 GB free, and let Steam download.
  3. First launch runs a benchmark test (mentioned in launch-day player reviews) to gauge your hardware.
  4. If the game refuses to start, apply the DX11 fix below before anything else.

Download size versus install size can differ slightly; budget the full 20 GB plus headroom for updates.

Fixing the Two Known Launch Problems

Crash on launch (official fix). The developer pinned this workaround on the Steam forums on day one, in English and Chinese: right-click Mandate Order in your Library → PropertiesGeneral → type -DX11 into Launch Options. This forces DirectX 11 mode and resolved the launch crash for affected players.

Camera lag after install. Some launch-day reviews describe severe camera movement lag while rotating, while others on high-end rigs report flawless performance at max settings. If you hit it, lower graphics settings first; a definitive official fix is still pending (TBC). Performance is on the developer's declared Early Access polish list, tracked on our update page.

Family Sharing: One Download, Multiple Players

A practical money-saver that is easy to miss: the game supports Steam Family Sharing. Once you own and install it, eligible household accounts can download and play your copy with their own saves and achievements, subject to Steam's sharing rules (one player at a time per copy). Details about what your license covers are on the game license page.

Is There a Demo Download?

Not anymore. A free demo existed during Steam Next Fest in October 2025 and was delisted after the event. The Early Access build, which is far more complete than that demo, is now the only downloadable version. History and what the demo contained: Mandate Order demo page.

Download FAQ

Can I download it without buying? No. There is no free trial today; see is Mandate Order free or paid.

Does it need internet after download? The store requires a broadband connection for download and updates. It is a single-player game; an always-online requirement is not indicated on the store page (TBC for offline-mode specifics).

How big are updates? Unannounced; the developer promises full changelogs with each patch, published via the Steam news hub.

Which regions can download it? The game supports 12 languages including Russian, Turkish, Polish and Spanish, and Steam sells it with standard regional pricing, so buying legitimately is possible across all major regions covered by Steam.

Post-Install Checklist

Five minutes of setup before your first real session pays off:

  1. Run the benchmark. The game offers a built-in benchmark on first launch (noted by launch-day reviewers); use it to pick settings before committing to a long campaign, especially given the mixed camera-stutter reports, some players hit stutter while rotating the camera, others ran max settings smoothly, so your own benchmark result is the only answer that matters.
  2. Play the tutorial fully. Day-one reviews consistently praise the hand-holding onboarding, and it was rebuilt specifically from playtest feedback. The game's economy of "soldiers are your workforce" is easier to absorb guided than discovered.
  3. Confirm Steam Cloud is on. Saves sync automatically when enabled (Properties, General), worth checking before a 13-hour run to kingship like the one a launch-day player documented.
  4. Note the feedback tools. In-game feedback channels are one of the developer's official listening posts, alongside Steam forums and Discord, use them for bugs rather than only venting in reviews.
  5. Bookmark the news hub. Patches ship with full changelogs per the developer's EA commitment; the Steam news page is where they land first.

Where Updates Come From After Install

Expect active patching: the studio has committed to stage-by-stage roadmaps, dev diaries, known-issues lists and full changelogs across a ~12-month Early Access arc targeting new maps, livestock farming, more retainers and new unit types. Updates download automatically through Steam as they release; no launcher or third-party updater exists, and nothing legitimate will ever ask you to download patches from another site, a useful tell against the fake "update" installers that circulate for new releases (see the torrent warnings). Patch sizes are not pre-announced (TBC), so keep a few GB of headroom beyond the 20 GB install. We track every shipped patch on the update page.

Facts on this page come from the official Steam store page, developer statements and launch-day community research. Details marked TBC are awaiting confirmation.
